Warmer Weather Means More Outdoor Bay Area Fun 4U

JH Park

July is a special month for me. It holds a couple of milestones that our family celebrates.  First, the wife and I had a July wedding on Treasure Island many, unmentionable years ago. It was a gorgeous day, a beautiful ceremony, and we’ve had many happy years since then. Also, our first child was born in July.  Again, another bright, momentous day in our lives.
And speaking of bright, July is usually one of the sunnier months in the Bay Area calendar. Earlier this month, though, it’s felt more like Fall. I hold onto hope that Summer really is here as the days are getting warmer and brighter. I’m sure the fog is lying in wait and biding its time, but this week looks to be a warm one so let’s see what opportunities for outdoor enjoyment there are and make hay while the sun shines.

TUESDAY JULY 26TH
How about a free workout session at Fort Mason?

WEDNESDAY JULY 27TH
Political Comedy with the famous SF Mime Troupe

THURSDAY JULY 28TH
Natural fireworks: The Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower

FRIDAY JULY 29TH
Curious about those Cranes? Take a tour of the Port of Oakland

SATURDAY JULY 30TH
Berkeley Kite Festival Begins TODAY

SUNDAY JULY 31ST
Get your Shakespeare on! See The Tempest at John Hinkel Park

Whatever you do, whatever you’ve got to celebrate, have a wonderful July Finale!

“Let’s Get Moving!”

Licensed to Sell. . . Real Estate

DRElicense_2011

When I was younger I had careers that evolved around technology. I started at the University where I worked repairing and maintaining the equipment at the Berkeley Language Lab.  From there, I had a lot of techie jobs that went from working on detailed projects to being a project manager myself.  Then I partnered with a colleague in a business that installed movie sound equipment for the likes of Francis Ford Coppola in San Francisco and Fantasy Films in Berkeley.

While I was immersed in all this, I would visit my parents for Sunday brunch. Inevitably, my mom, a real estate agent, would show up late. When she finally arrived, the talk was all real estate all the time: how to address each client’s needs, problems with lenders, houses that needed so much work that selling them for a profit would be a challenge, problem clients she needed to dance around, etc, etc.

At the time, seeing it through my ignorant perspective, I swore I’d never be a Real Estate Agent. It took too much of a toll on one’s life.

Yet now I have a license to sell and over twenty years experience in the real estate business.

How I got here is another story, but why I stay is the story I missed over all those Sunday brunches. I didn’t realize then how satisfying this job can be. Sure, it’s full of ups and downs with lots of room for spiritual growth, but at the end, when you congratulate your seller on the successful sale or hand the keys to the buyer who has been searching tirelessly for their dream of homeownership, it makes being a broker very worthwhile indeed.

If you’re looking for a Real Estate Agent, I’m happy to help.  Give me a call if you’re thinking of  buying or selling a home, and for any and all of your other real estate needs.  Just phone 510-527-0174 .  I’m never too busy to take care of you– or your referrals–and I’ll make sure you’re glad you called.

Weekly One-A-Day Fun: Your Keys to Enjoyment

se_Photos_OurCompany_HandingOverKeys_870x400px

I hope you all had fun last week.  I was playing bachelor myself, from Thursday until Sunday afternoon.  I gave the wife a trip to Seattle for her birthday/Valentine’s Day present.  She got to visit friends and see our youngest perform in a play.  She likes to binge watch, and took in four performances in as many days.

It would have been fun to travel with her–even though four performances might have been a little much for me–but I had several buyers who found homes they were interested in purchasing.  It’s of course, my job to write the offers so I’ve been tending to that.  It may not sound like fun per se,  but it’s truly a pleasure when I hand the keys over to proud new homeowners.

It’s why I do what I do.  That moment is among the many that makes my job as a real estate agent gratifying and fun.

And speaking of fun, let’s see what free activities are happening this week (February 24th to March 1st) in the Bay Area.

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 24TH
Tuesday Night art party at Era Art Bar Arts & Drafts in Oakland

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 25TH
Noise Pop Festival ( Various Events and Venues all week)

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 26TH
Bear Country Funk & Dance party in Berkeley

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 27TH
12th Annual Ocean Film Festival-not free, but very cool.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28TH
Hot press typesetting fans head for the Presidio

SUNDAY MARCH 1ST
First Free Sunday at the Oakland Museum

Have a great week, and remember:

If any of you East Bay homeowners are ready to sell, this is a golden time for sellers.  If you’re looking for a home in this amazing area, I can help you strategize for a successful purchase.  Please give me a call at 510-527-0174 , I’m never too busy to take care of you– or your referrals–and I’ll make you glad you called.
