One-A-Day Fun in the Bay Area

Are you a pet lover? Especially cats? Then you’ll like this

cat town cafe

Our family has four cats, much to the annoyance of our single dog.  All of our pets are rescued animals, so I was fascinated to see a new place in Oakland dedicated to cat adoptions, coffee, and cookies.

It’s called the “Cat Town Cafe”  and it’s a combo cat rescue and cafe. Here perspective cat owners can enjoy a snack while they’re looking over the likely cats available for adoption.  The Cat Town Cafe just opened in October 26th and if you’d like to visit it’s on the corner of 29th and Broadway in Oakland.

Four Paws Up and MORE POWER TO THEM.  I hope they’re wildly successful.

And now, let’s take a look at some free (or deeply cheap) fun activities available this week in the Bay Area

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11TH
Veterans Day Celebration at the Presidio

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 12TH
Italian Movie Night in Berkeley

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13TH
Lazar thrill ride at the Embarcadero ($2.00)

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14TH

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15TH

With the dismal failure of the Raiders, 49ers, and Cal Bears this weekend, our hopeful hearts turn to the GIANTS!

The upcoming World Series, I predict, will render the streets  empty and sports bars full most of the week.

Of course, there are many who are not baseball fans, and for those I will list a few free Bay Area activities occuring even during game days.  Let’s see what we have:

TUESDAY OCTOBER 21ST
Exploratorium Lab and Lunch

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22ND
Laughter Yoga Class at UCSF

THURSDAY OCTOBER 23RD
Lunchtime Dance Installation at UN Plaza in SF

FRIDAY OCTOBER 24TH
Free Classical Music by the Bay

SATURDAY OCTOBER 25TH
Sugar Skull making at Richmond Art Center

SUNDAY OCTOBER 26TH
Last Day for Glass Pumpkin Blowing Demo

Giant fan or not, I hope you’ll enjoy the coming week,  AND REMEMBER: I’m never too busy, even during game days, to field your questions regarding Bay Area real estate, or handle your referals.  If you or your friends or relatives are interested in specific information from a local agent about buying or selling a home in the Berkeley Area,  give me a call at 510-527-0174.  You’ll be glad you did.

Free Fun in the Bay Area

blue angels

Hope you enjoyed Fleet Week.  It was quite amazing to see the Blue Angels soaring over Sunday’s  Raider’s Game! Unfortunately, the Angels must be Charger fans because as soon as they made their impressive sweep the Raider’s started to lose.  The defense didn’t,  the offense couldn’t, and what looked like a 1 in the win column flipped back to a 0.

Well, Go Giants, and Go 49ers.  Hope these teams do us proud, but whether they win or lose we won’t let it effect our good time! Lets see what else we can do to have fun in the Bay Area this week.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 14TH
Playtesting Bash in Oakland

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 15TH
Litquake is back, all you readers

THURSDAY OCTOBER 16TH
Dreamforce, an innovator’s conference in SF

FRIDAY OCTOBER 17TH
Win Tickets to see American Nomad at Ashkenaz

SATURDAY OCTOBER 18TH
Free Art and Science Days at the Exploratorium

SUNDAY OCTOBER 19TH
Starry Plow Sunday Matinee Concerts

Enjoy your weekend, and remember, I’m never too busy to take care of you or your referals.  If you or your friends and relatives are interested in specific information from a local agent about buying or selling a home in the Berkeley Area,  give me a call at 510-527-0174.  I’ll make you happy you did.

Fun Without the Fat: Monday One A Day Fun Day

Wayne Thiebau
Wayne Thiebaud

Many of the restaurants in Napa are know for their fine food and gorgeous presentations.  Desserts in this land of Wine and Money are memorable, but also way too hard on the waistline.
You can, however, wallow in deliciousness without adding a pound if you head for the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville.  There you can indulge in the sight of 100 of Wayne Thiebaud’s works on paper, many appealing to our taste buds as well as our eyes with his lucious representations of fruits, vegetables and desserts.  See the art and subject matter that launched the artist to his current fame.  There is a price of admission (only $3.50 for seniors) so those of you with a taste for FREE FUN will appreciate the following selections:

TUESDAY August 19th
Free sneak preview of “When The Game Stands Tall”

WEDNESDAY August 20th
Free Astronomy Lecture at the Randall Museum

Third Thursday Piedmont Avenue Stroll

FRIDAY August 22nd

In the afternoon my wife and I traveled to San Jose to participate in a Real Estate Seminar today and Tuesday. We’ll be watching the World cup as well. San Jose is a big Soccer town, so we’ll catch team USA vs Ghana at the World Cup 2014 Outdoor Viewing Party and enjoy the noise and fun of excited fans all rooting as one.

Monday’s One-A-Day Fun

The Dawn of Summer

June is the month when our thoughts lightly turn to VACATIONS.  Those of us on a budget welcome fun ideas that don’t cost a lot, so in light of that here’s something I ran across the other day: FREE museum passes courtesy of the Contra Costa County library system.  It’s called “Discover and Go”. It’s a program where you use your library card to reserve free tickets to local participating museums.

This will come in handy for us soon.  My wife and I will be attending a real estate seminar in San Jose mid June. She’s interested in quilting, so we’re going to use her library card to get free admission tickets to the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.

I’m anticipating a very good Summer.  Let’s begin with this list of free fun for this week.

TUESDAY JUNE 3RD
WEDNESDAY JUNE 4TH
Discovery Museum Free Admission Day
THURSDAY JUNE 5TH
Free First Thursdays at the Berkeley Museum
FRIDAY JUNE 6TH
Jack’s Night Market at Jack London Square
SATURDAY JUNE 7TH
SUNDAY JUNE 8TH
Eats, Beats, and Brews in Downtown Berkeley

Enjoy your first week of  June, and remember: whether you’re moving in or out of this amazing Bay Area, I’d be honored to help.

  • Shine up your home boosting “curb appeal”–with your economy in mind
  • Provice access to all the exposure and marketing materials that Coldwell Banker, an international brokerage has available
  • Use my experience to help you decide upon a sensable sales price with the best chance for multiple offers and competitive bidding.
  • Set open homes, showing times and directions with your comfort in mind

1-A-Day Free Fun in the Bay Area

Super Sunday in the East Bay

Sunday was a pretty amazing day. The views from the Berkeley Hills home I was holding open were sparkling clear, and the home itself is lovely.  There were so many eager buyers I wasn’t lonesome at all or lacking in good conversation.  The place was packed. I felt like I was hosting a party, and all this despite, and possibly because of, the wonderful Himalayan Faire that was also taking place at nearby Live Oak Park in Berkeley.

Let’s see what free activities the coming week has in store:

TUESDAY MAY 20TH
Yoga at the Grace Cathedral Labyrinth

WEDNESDAY MAY 21ST
Free Circus Class at Circus Center in SF

THURSDAY MAY 22ND
$5 Night at the Asian Art Museum

FRIDAY MAY 23RD
Bites Off Broadway: Food Truck Block Party in Oakland

SATURDAY MAY 24TH
Free comedy showcase in Pappy’s Bar in Berkeley

SUNDAY MAY 25TH
Carnival Grand Parade in SF

Whether you’re moving in or out of this amazing Bay Area, I’d be honored to help.

For SELLERS, I’ll help you prepare and market your home for sale that will give it the widest appeal and best exposure; thus attracting a bevy of buyers and the best chance for multiple offers and competitive bidding. To learn more, go to go to What’s Next Homes.

For BUYERS I’ll set up an REAlert account that will search the MLS real estate site–using requirements that you provide–for properties that meet your needs.  Once found, pictures and details will be delivered directly to your email courtesy of Coldwell Banker!

It’s the best way for you to get a look at first-time-on-the-market properties; and this saves you wasted time and disappointment that happens when you find the perfect home but discover it’s already been sold, a common occurrence when using the usual home finding sites like Trulio, Zillow, etc.  They are fun to search, but their information is often out of date. Not so with REAlert.

If you’re specifically interested in high walk score homes, click here to find those that are currently on the market in great East Bay neighborhoods. To learn more, go to go to That House Detective

Or, just give me a call at 510-527-0174.
